Popwhite 30 Day SEO & GEO Plan

A 30-day plan for popwhitesmile.com covering three areas: technical SEO, content publishing and AI search visibility. Findings come from an audit of all 70 live URLs completed on 24th September 2026, re-checked against the live site and refreshed search data on 5 November 2026, alongside the POPWHITE marketing plans, the competitor analysis and the clinical studies.

What We Found in the Initial Audit

First audit 24 September 2026 across 70 URLs. Re-crawled 5 November 2026: the sitemap now lists 53 URLs. Traffic, keyword, authority and backlink figures are from Semrush, 4 November 2026.

Organic visits fell 57%, from 1,703 to 732 a month. Non-branded visits fell from 1,256 to 463. The top 3 positions have held at around 30 keywords. Almost all of the loss is in positions 11 to 100, which fell from 564 keywords to 160. AI Overviews are the only figure that grew, from 22 to 28. Both charts follow the daily lines in the one-year trend view, with the start and end values. The keyword chart counts each position band and SERP feature, so its total of 299 differs from the 378 organic keywords .

Where Popwhite Shows Up in Google

Share of Popwhite's Google positions by result type, on 4 November 2026. Nearly one in ten positions is now inside an AI Overview, which is why the AI search workstream sits alongside the ranking work.

Counted from the six Shopify sitemap files at popwhitesmile.com/sitemap.xml on 5 November 2026. 18 of the 23 content pages from September have been deleted, including the 9 app-generated and leftover pages. All 18 now return 404 with no redirect. The 26 blog posts are now listed in sitemap_articles_1.xml, and sitemap_blogs_1.xml lists only the blog index. A sixth file, the agentic sitemap, lists /agents.md.

Competitor Search Visibility

US market. Competitor keyword counts in this chart are Ubersuggest US estimates for October 2026, with Popwhite measured the same way so the three brands compare like for like. Positions come from US Google results refreshed on 5 November 2026 and are given as the rank among ordinary (organic) results.

US keywords ranking in Google

Hismile is absent from this chart because its US organic footprint is negligible. It built demand through TikTok and paid media instead, which the POPWHITE competitor analysis also notes.

Lumineux Holds the Mouthwash Terms

The competitor analysis names Lumineux as the closest brand match. In search the overlap is exact, and a single Lumineux product page, /products/whitening-mouthwash-16oz, does the work:

  • In September it was the first organic result for "teeth whitening mouthwash", 1,600 searches a month. By 5 November Crest holds first place and the Popwhite rinse is third organic, up from #27. Lumineux no longer appears in the top results for that term.
  • Lumineux is second organic for "mouthwash for white teeth", where the Popwhite rinse is 18th. On "mouthwash for whitening teeth" their blog post is second and the Popwhite rinse is fourth.
  • Lumineux has slipped on "peroxide free teeth whitening strips", 8,100 searches a month. It held a top position in September and is 18th organic in November. That is the same peroxide-free claim Popwhite makes, and the term is now more open.

The Lumineux blog post "Top 5 best whitening mouthwashes of 2026" is doing more of the work than in September. One product page and one blog post is the whole strategy, and both are formats already in this plan.

Boka Ranks on Structure, Not Volume

Boka ranks for 4,188 US keywords, almost none of it blog content. Every win comes from a collection page built around a single attribute:

  • /collections/fluoride-free-toothpaste ranks #1 and #2 across five fluoride-free queries
  • /collections/sls-free-toothpaste ranks #1 for "sls free toothpaste with fluoride"
  • /collections/non-toxic-toothpaste ranks #3 for "healthy toothpaste", 2,400 a month

Restructuring the ten existing Popwhite collections along these lines is a month 2 project. It is too large to complete properly inside 30 days and is not included here.

BrandPriceHookSearch threatWhere Popwhite can win
Lumineux$6.99 to $11.75Certified non-toxic, dentist-formulated, Shark TankVery highThey own peroxide-free but are not purple and show no instant result. Popwhite has the purple mechanism and seven studies.
Boka$9.99Nano-hydroxyapatite, largest clean-segment brandHighA different category. Not worth contesting head on.
Hismile V34$15.91Purple colour-correcting serum, viral on TikTokMediumA serum, not a toothpaste, with a thin US search presence. The searches their marketing creates are largely uncaptured.
Colgate Optic White Purple$5.99Mass retail, purple SKU launched 2025HighPeroxide and fluoride based. Sensitive teeth, veneers and clean-ingredient searches are open.
SNOW$20 to $30Celebrity DTC, full purple rangeLowPublishes the purple explainer content Popwhite should own, without clinical data behind it.
Supersmile$21.25Dentist-created, professional channelLowNo purple product and no prophy paste. The dental search terms are uncontested by them.

Popwhite Advantages

  • Purple colour correction and peroxide-free, enamel-safe credentials in one brand
  • The only colour-correcting prophy paste, used chairside by dentists
  • The only peroxide-free and alcohol-free purple rinse found in this review
  • US launch in 2014, seven years ahead of Hismile V34
  • Seven clinical studies, which no competitor in this price band holds

Current Disadvantages

  • Content volume. On the same US estimate, Lumineux ranks for 2,223 keywords and Boka 4,188, against 249 for Popwhite.
  • Authority. Popwhite's Domain Rating is 17. It counts 831 referring domains and 1.8K backlinks.
  • Review content. Competitors carry tens of thousands of reviews. Rating markup is now on 6 of 9 Popwhite product pages, and the rinse page still has none.
  • Awards. LaserGlow claims a 2026 Health.com purple award. The Popwhite award post dates from January 2025.
The 30-Day Plan

The Four Workstreams

Each workstream has a deliverable and a measure reported every two weeks.

Workstream 1

Technical SEO Fixes

  • Review and rewrite title tags and meta descriptions across all 52 pages, where required. Five pages currently use their URL slug as the title, for example "about – POPWHITE SMILE"
  • Add H1 tags to the 14 pages that have none, and add text to the empty H1 on the home page
  • Set 301 redirects for the 18 pages deleted since September, which now return 404, and fix the 5 blog links that point to them. The 9 app-generated pages and the duplicate FAQ page are already gone
  • Add Product, FAQPage, Article, Organization and BreadcrumbList schema, with review fields prepared
  • Alt text on product, study and content images
  • Internal linking between products, studies, collections and blog
  • Fix the Open Graph image tags and the encoded blog URLs. The full list of 26 items sits in the Technical Fixes tab
  • Rebuild and resubmit the XML sitemap

Reported: indexed URL count, URLs with a unique title and H1, schema coverage, Search Console crawl errors

Workstream 2

Content Publishing to Match Search Queries

  • Optimise the five existing pages that carry sales: toothpaste, rinse, duo, toothpaste collection, home
  • Publish the seven clinical studies as blog posts, replacing the current PDF-only format
  • Publish two blog posts against verified search demand: whitening toothpaste for veneers, and whitening for sensitive teeth
  • Create one new page: Popwhite Brand Facts

Reported: content live, positions on 14 tracked keywords, non-brand clicks in Search Console

Workstream 3

Dental and Prophy Paste Search

  • Optimise /collections/dental-prophy-paste in week 3 for "prophy paste", 1,600 searches a month at difficulty 17, now 9th organic, up from #68
  • Restore /pages/free-prophy-paste-sample, which was deleted after September and now returns 404, or redirect it to /products/popwhite-prophy-paste-5-cup-sample and optimise that page
  • Publish a Popwhite vs NUPRO blog post targeting "nupro prophy paste", 210 a month at difficulty 14
  • Publish the three prophy grit studies as part of the seven study posts

Reported: prophy keyword positions, sessions and form starts on the sample page

Workstream 4

AI Search Visibility (GEO)

  • Track 21 buying prompts across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews. The 5 November scan is the baseline: AI Visibility 41, mentioned in 11 of 75 answers. Re-measure at day 15 and day 30
  • Replace the default Shopify llms.txt and /agents.md, which carry shopping-agent instructions and no brand information, with a brand knowledge file
  • Publish the Popwhite Brand Facts page: founding year, formula, studies, awards, certifications, stockists
  • Apply FAQPage schema and answer-first formatting across new and optimised content
  • Resolve unsourced claims. /pages/clinical-trials-1 has been deleted, but "FDA approved" still appears on /pages/faq and in four blog posts

Reported: how many of the 21 prompts name Popwhite, per assistant, against the week 1 baseline

Terms already close to page 1 can move inside 30 days, which is why the rinse and prophy targets are firm. New content normally reaches its settled position in 60 to 90 days, so the day 30 target for those is indexation and a first ranking. Positions are reported at day 15 and day 30 either way.

Login always dumps the customer on the account pageAccountsWeek 2
Where
The account link in the header, on every page
Action
The header links to a bare /account/login on every page, with no return_url attached. Checked from the home page, a product page and a collection page, all identical. Because Shopify is given nowhere to return to, everyone who logs in lands on the account page regardless of what they were doing. A customer signing in from a product page or the cart loses their place and has to navigate back. Pass the current page as return_url on the login link so people resume where they left off.

Account creation gives the customer nothing backAccountsWeek 2
Where
/account/register and the logged-in /account page
Action
The store runs Shopify classic customer accounts. Registration collects first name, last name, email and password, then two things fail. No confirmation or welcome email is sent, so the customer has nothing telling them the account exists or that the address they typed was correct. And once logged in, the account page shows no profile at all: the name and email they just submitted are nowhere on the page and there is no way to view or edit them. A customer who mistypes an email has no way to find out or fix it. Turn on a welcome notification and add a profile block to the account template, or move to Shopify new customer accounts, which handle both.

Every collection page on the site has no H1, as do 22 of the 23 content pages. Only /pages/faq has one. On the collection pages the most prominent heading Google can find is the promotional H2 "Subscribe & Save 20% OFF (first time)", so the page targeting "prophy paste" is headed by a discount offer. Most content pages lead with a shared template heading, "It Started With Color", rather than anything unique to the page. One clear, keyword-relevant H1 added to each. Mobile speed is not fixed by this team, and it has got worse since September. On 5 November 2026 the mobile home page measured Largest Contentful Paint 7.2s, First Contentful Paint 2.6s, Speed Index 6.1s, Total Blocking Time 0ms and Cumulative Layout Shift 0. The largest suggested savings are 0.6s on redirects and 0.24s on unused JavaScript. The September baseline follows. Google PageSpeed Insights scored the mobile home page at 79, with Largest Contentful Paint at 5.2s against a 2.5s threshold. First Contentful Paint is 2.0s, Total Blocking Time 10ms, Cumulative Layout Shift 0 and Speed Index 3.0s. Largest Contentful Paint is the only failing metric. Measured 24 September 2026 on an emulated Moto G Power, Lighthouse 13.5.0. The element responsible needs identifying by the web development team, who receive this in week 1.

Page 1 for "purple mouthwash"

US results refreshed 5 November 2026. September observations are noted where they changed.

  • The AI Overview has dropped off this result. In September it sat above everything. The page now opens with DrDent's Amazon listing, then images, a shopping carousel and People Also Ask.
  • DrDent occupies nine slots: Amazon, their own store, Walmart, Superdrug, TikTok, Instagram, two Facebook posts and Shop. The top organic result is their Amazon listing.
  • Perfora has fallen from fourth organic in September to around 18th. A Reddit thread asking whether purple mouthwash works now ranks on page 1, which shows the demand for proof.
  • The Popwhite rinse is now the tenth ordinary result, down from seventh in September, and falls well below the fold.

Response

  • Optimise the rinse page in week 2. It already ranks for the variants, so relevance is established. It is not written for the head term.
  • The rinse is already third organic for "teeth whitening mouthwash" and fourth for "mouthwash for whitening teeth". Those positions are worth protecting while the head term is worked on.
  • DrDent has reach but no clinical studies. Seven studies published as readable posts is the one asset they cannot match this year.
  • The shopping carousel needs a Merchant Center feed with review counts behind it. That sits with whoever manages the product feed.

September positions shown as a number were checked by hand in Google. November positions are the rank among ordinary (organic) results in US Google results collected by Ubersuggest on 5 November 2026. "Not ranking" means Popwhite was not in the roughly 65 results collected. Search volumes and difficulty are unchanged in Ubersuggest since September.

How the Copy Changes

  • What the product does before how it works, following the recommendation in the competitor analysis
  • Brighten, tone and correct rather than clean and polish, matching the language set out in the marketing plan
  • Instant result in the opening line, clinical proof immediately after
  • Every claim linked to the study post that supports it

Dental Search

Hygienist outreach, sampling and the follow-up sequence are run by the POPWHITE sales team. This section covers the pages they send people to and the searches that bring dental offices in directly.

The Prophy Collection Page

"Prophy paste" gets 1,600 searches a month in the US at difficulty 17. Popwhite is now ninth organic, up from #68 in September, even though the page itself has not changed. The ranking page is /collections/dental-prophy-paste, which still has no H1 and still carries this meta description:

"Prophy Paste SKUs to use for Buy, Get promotions"

This page is optimised in week 3.

Messaging

No prophy paste contains peroxide, so "peroxide-free" carries no weight with a hygienist. Alan's note on this is correct. The claim the clinical studies support is the one every dental page is written around:

"The only prophy paste that whitens while it polishes. 22% more stain removal than the leading brand, with less splatter."

The full study reports are needed to publish the 22% figure with a source. Unsourced numbers are discounted by both Google and AI assistants.

US results refreshed 5 November 2026.

  • The results above Popwhite are mostly supply catalogues and manufacturers. Keystone Gelato, Dental City, NUPRO listings and generic "Prophy Paste" category pages, plus two YouTube videos and a Hello Pearl glossary entry. Ultradent, Henry Schein, Patterson and Net32 have dropped below Popwhite since September.
  • They rank on category page structure alone.
  • A NUPRO fluoride-free listing is seventh organic, two places above Popwhite. Dentsply's own NUPRO page no longer shows on page 1, which is why the NUPRO comparison post is worth publishing.
  • Dental City holds two page 1 listings. Distribution through them is a second route onto this results page. That is a sales matter, noted here for visibility.
  • An AI Overview sits at the top. The four dental prompts in the GEO workstream target it.

Why This Term Is Winnable

The consumer terms are contested by brands with heavy social and marketplace spend. This one is contested by dental supply catalogues, which is what the difficulty score of 17 reflects.

  • The page already exists and is indexed, so nothing waits on discovery
  • It reached ninth organic with no H1 and a broken description, so a competent page has clear room to climb
  • Page 1 is already held for "whitening prophy paste" and for every branded prophy term, so the site has established trust on the subject
  • Three prophy studies exist and none are readable. Publishing them adds the depth the page lacks

An office manager ordering page is set out in the POPWHITE prophy plan and is worth building. It is held for month 2 to keep new page creation to a minimum inside the 30 days.

Positions Already Held

  • Top of page 1 for "whitening prophy paste" and for every Popwhite branded prophy term
  • Also ranking for "prophy paste ring holder" and "mint prophy paste"
  • A foothold on "prophy paste dental", 320 a month
  • The only colour-correcting prophy paste on the market

Gaps

  • "Prophy paste" at ninth organic, outside the top 5, against a difficulty of 17
  • The collection page shows an internal note as its search snippet
  • Three prophy studies locked in PDFs
  • The free sample page has been deleted and returns 404

AI Search Visibility

A Google AI Overview sits above every other result for "prophy paste" and for most of the tracked consumer terms. On 5 November it no longer shows for "purple mouthwash". The 21 buying prompts below are re-measured at day 15 and day 30.

Why Popwhite Is Hard to Cite

  • All seven studies are still PDFs on a CDN, linked from a 120-word page
  • No FAQ schema anywhere on the site
  • Almost no comparison content, which is what these tools quote
  • The stockist list in the FAQ is out of date and is being repeated

The llms.txt File Has No Brand Information

popwhitesmile.com/llms.txt is still Shopify's default. Shopify also publishes the same text at /agents.md, which is listed in the agentic sitemap. Both describe how a shopping agent should use the Shop skill and checkout. It says nothing about what Popwhite is, what is in it, what the studies found or who stocks it. It gets replaced with a brand knowledge file.

Claims Needing Sources

/pages/clinical-trials-1 has been deleted, but "FDA approved" still appears on /pages/faq and in four blog posts. "Patented" and "rated #1 by 35 dentists" appear elsewhere. Each needs a source or softer wording. Hismile has been ruled against over similar claims, and AI assistants repeat whatever the page states.

Decisions Required

  • Sign-off on the dental message: whitening, not peroxide-free
